Hiking & forest trails
Teijo National Park quite literally starts around the corner from Villa Seaview. From the villa you can walk straight onto several well-marked forest trails and lakeside paths, and the historic Teijo ironworks area is right next door. The park combines rocky coastline, quiet lakes, sheltered forests and open marshes, with a feeling of wild, free nature and the chance to spot birds and other wildlife in every season.
Most of the trails are easy to moderate, clearly waymarked and safe, which makes them suitable for families as well as more experienced hikers. Along the way you’ll find lean-tos, fire pits and picnic spots by lakes and viewpoints. In addition to hiking, many routes are also popular for cycling: you can bring your own bike or rent a bicycle or e‑bike from Teijo Bike Park or from the Matildanjärvi nature centre and explore both the park and the nearby villages on two wheels.
In every season you’ll find something different: spring birdsong and fresh light, lush summer greens, crisp autumn colours around the lakes and silent winter paths when the forest is covered in snow. We’re happy to suggest routes that match your energy level and the time you have – from a gentle evening walk straight from the villa to a full-day hike in the national park.

Sea – Canoe, SUP and swimming
The calm coastal waters and nearby lakes around Villa Seaview are ideal for easy paddling and swimming. Within a short distance there are several lakes where you can swim, as well as a small sandy beach and jetty in front of the villa itself. In Mathildedal you’ll also find a seaside swimming beach for a classic summer dip.
Canoes can be rented in the nearby Kirjakkala ironworks village and at the Matildanjärvi nature centre, and there are various guided canoe tours available for groups on both the lakes and the sea. At Villa Seaview we also have one tandem kayak and a SUP board that our guests can use during their stay, subject to availability and weather conditions.
Whether you prefer a quiet paddle on a forest lake, a SUP session on the sea at sunrise or a simple evening swim close to the villa, there are plenty of options without having to travel far.

Slow farm visit at Teijon Tallin kotieläintila
Teijon Tallin kotieläintila offers a calm “slow farm” experience in the Teijo ironwork village, right on the edge of Teijo National Park. Visits are booked in advance for a specific time, and during your stay at the farm you’ll be gently guided to meet the resident animals: Finnish sheep, Eastern Finncattle cows, native-breed chickens, Finnish horses, a Mangalitsa pig, rabbits and the stable cats.
The experience is especially well suited to families and small groups. Being close to animals in a safe, quiet environment – surrounded by fields, forest and village life – is very different from a busy theme park. It works beautifully as an add-on to a hiking or lake day when you want a change from forest trails and the shoreline.
The atmosphere is unhurried, the focus is clearly on animal wellbeing and the encounters feel genuine rather than mass tourism. It’s a lovely way to connect with Finnish rural life and local heritage breeds during your stay at Villa Seaview.
